Quote of the Day

“The first essential for the child’s development is concentration.
The child who concentrates
is immensely happy.”
- Maria Montessori

  1. Haha! I too put this up as a scheduled post for while I'm on vacation! I can't remember right now when exactly it's set to appear, but you'll be experiencing deja vu pretty soon :)

It was a real lesson to me to realize how thoughtless and rude it can be to interrupt a child who is concentrating, even when it's "just" to talk with them about what they're doing. Now I've read that if done too often it can damage/shorten the child's attention span. That's really something to think about.

  2. As I've said before, "Great minds think alike . . ." That is a good thought about not interrupting children and the negative effects of it. I am learning more and more to respect my kids when they are deep in play.
